Annual Event Benefits Rockwall YMCA Angel Camp for Kids with Special Needs
This year’s festivities will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 2. The Big Daddy Band will take the stage in the afternoon. There will be steaming platters of fresh crawfish, corn and potatoes – served up alongside mouthwatering red beans and rice and jambalaya.
“Be on the lookout for our Mudbug mascot to make a special appearance, and as in year’s past, there will be some pretty fantastic raffle prizes and giveaways to round out a day of fun on the patio with friends and family,” said Dan Keils, Dodie’s General Manager.
Mike McRae and Gabe Nicolella, Dodie’s co-owners, introduced the Crawfish Fest in 2013 as a way to celebrate crawfish season while supporting the local community. This will be the seventh year that the Crawfish Fest has benefited Angel Camp.
“We greatly appreciate the continued support of Dodie’s. Their gift, and others like it, enable us to serve the youth and families in our community in a variety of ways. One of these ways is through our Angel Camp which serves children of all abilities, and creates an environment that allows kids to explore and enjoy new experiences like sailing, swimming, archery, riflery, and horseback riding – with the support that their special needs require. Thank you Dodie’s for giving us the opportunity to serve these wonderful children,” said Clint Elliott, District Executive Director at the JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall.
